1. General information:
- Vietnamese entry visa (a business visa and a tourist visa) is required for all foreigners wishing to visit Vietnam except for citizens of countries having bilateral agreements on Vietnam visa exemption with Vietnam.

- Visa can be applied in person at the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney or by mail/post to the Consulate-General’s  address.

- The time to process a Vietnam visa application is normally 3 working days. In case of urgency, the applicant may contact the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney for an appropriate advice.

- Normally, the Vietnamese visa can be applied no earlier than 6 month prior to date of departure and the applicant can enter Vietnam anytime from proposed date of entry. However please note that, the visa will be expired exactly from the date as given.

 2. The required documents are as follows:

- The original passport which must have longer validity than the Vietnam visa by at least one month.

- One completed application form attached with one passport-size photograph

- A copy of itinerary (if applicable)

- Application fee can be paid by cash, money orders or cheque (payable to the Consulate General of the S.R. of Vietnam in Sydney). Visa fees are various and depend on the length of stay, number of entry and purpose a trip. Please contact the consulate General for further information. All payments are non-refundable.

- For the applicant who wish to collect the passport by mail: please enclose a pre-paid return envelope with clear self address. To avoid a situation when passports might not reach back the applicants before the needed date, please spare plenty of time for the post delivery forth and back.

3. Tourist visas to Vietnam:

Tourist visa can be valid up to 30 days with single or multiple entry.

4. Business and other types of Vietnamese visas:

Business visa could be granted for single or multiple entries with a maximum stay in Vietnam of 90 days

In addition to the documents specified in (1), the applicant must obtain visa approval from Vietnamese Immigration Department through his/her sponsor in Vietnam (otherwise the applicant can ask for the assistance from the Consulate General).

5. Vietnamese Diplomatic and Official visas:

Diplomatic/Official visa can be applied gratis. Besides the requirements mentioned in (1), the applicant is advised to submit to the Consulate General a Note Verbal or an official letter from the concerned office of the Commonwealth Government of Australia or State Government, Foreign Missions and Posts based in Australia.

If applicable, write the visa approval/reference number at the top of the Vietnamese visa application. pre-approval is not a requirement.

5. Business Letter:

Letter from US employer or sponsoring company, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant's employment status/position held in the company, and clearly stating the purpose of travel to Vietnam. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Vietnam.

6. Global Service Order Form:

Vietnam visa approval letter
Visa pre-approval letter is a letter issued by Vietnam Immigration Department (Vietnam Government Agency) allows you enter and exit Vietnam for a given time period. With the approval letter, traveler can pick up visa at all international airports in Vietnam (Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang airport in Da Nang City).
Copy of the same document will be transmitted to Vietnam immigration checkpoints at Vietnam International Airports, so that when the applicant arrives, the Immigration officers have those documents on hand already and will be able to issue your entry visa.
Before issuing an approval letter, the Office checks and screens visa application very strictly, so there is no case that you will be rejected at Vietnam airports when you have a visa pre-approval letter in hand. 

Required documents to get Vietnam visa at airport
To get Vietnam visa stamped in your passport at airport, you need to bring:
1- Your passport (with validity at least 6 months and has 2 blank pages)
2- 2 passport–size photos (front view; 4 x 6 cm).
3- Copy of approval letter that we sent to you.
4- At the airports, you have to fill 1 more form, to save your time please download and fill in this form in advance (photo and signatures are required).

5- Stamping fee, you pay directly in cash at the Immigration desk at airport:
* US$25 for single entry visa from 1 month to 6 months;
* US$50 for multiple entries visa from 1 month to 6 months
Accepted currencies are Vietnam Dong and US Dollars, paid in cash only.
Russian travelers are exempted from this fee.

Photo requirement:
- Photographs must be identical, taken within the past 6 months.
- The image size from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head should be between 1 inch and 13/8 inches.
- The photographs may be in color or black and white.
- The photo must be full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background.
- Photographs should be taken in normal street attire, without a hat or headgear that obscures the hair or hairline.
- Uniforms should not be worn in photographs with the exception of religious attire which is worn daily.
- If prescription glasses, a hearing device, wig or similar articles are normally and consistently worn, they should be worn when the picture is taken.
- Dark glasses or nonprescription glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable unless required for medical reasons. A medical certificate may be required to support the wearing of such glasses in the photographs.

Where to get visa at Vietnam airport
At the airport, on the way to baggage claim, you will see Landing Visa (or Visa Upon Arrival) office. All you do is to hand in the above documents and wait to get your passport back with Vietnam visa stamped.

It depends on the number person(s) applied visa on arrival like you. Usually it takes from 15 to 30 minutes. Make sure you have all required documents ready.
